During the summer of 2016, a witness reported seeing a man driving Ridge to a Jasper bar, but that was not publicly verified by investigators.MCSO continued to serve arrest warrants for the sale of controlled substances and 420 Blitz saturation details throughout the county. Early anecdotal efforts to tie the two events together were largely dismissed and Angela Kilgore would be found guilty of the elder Ridge’s death. The Ridge family would be forced to endure a tragedy that same summer with the death of Jerry Ridge, Wesley’s uncle, who was stabbed and his Whitwell pawnshop burned in an effort to hide evidence of the killing. Within a couple of months, the reward had increased to $15,000 to generate some leads to find Wesley Ridge. In the initial days of the investigation in 2016, Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnett publicly indicated that there was no evidence of foul play and that Ridge’s phone had been used on the date of his disappearance (March 8) but had not been used again. A reward of $3500 was posted for information leading to finding Ridge by his family. Ridge’s family had reported the 39-year-old missing on March 10, 2016, after they had not heard from him in two days. After searching dozens of different locations around the tri-state area and investigating numerous tips, law enforcement along with the District Attorney General’s Office made a decision that even though Ridge’s body has never been located, justice should not go unserved. Over the course of the next four and a half years, MCSO Detectives and other law enforcement agencies have spent countless hours obtaining evidence in the case as well as searching for the body of Wesley Ridge. – On March 8, 2016, Wesley Ridge was reported missing to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
